Who We Are?

My Name is Ian Dickeson

I am the director of Nightshift I.T. and I have been working full time in the computer/I.T. industry for over 20 years.

I started in the computer business due to an injury that would no longer allow me to work as a foreman for a high rise construction crew. Computers were my passion at the time so I moved back to Cranbrook and took the online Microsoft Certified Network Engineer course. I had to go back to work after my short term disability ran out and I got a job working for KB Computers on Baker St in Cranbrook. This was a fantastic experience (although I had to take a massive cut in pay over my last job,) I learned more at KB than I did from my entire MCSE course. I went my own way after a couple of years (Started my first company) and after a couple more years took a job for five years as a computer technician for the Ktunaxa Nation Council.

I learned a ton more and eventually went to work for St Eugene Resort. This has included over 10 years running everything at the St. Eugene, from workstations to servers, Networks, Telecomm TV head ends and Point of Sale, Surveillance, & Security systems as well as many other things which I learned on the fly as needed. (I was the only IT person on staff full time (although a few guys helped a lot when they could) and I also ran my own business Nightshift I.T. when I was not working for St Eugene.

Just over 2 years ago I decided I needed a change from St Eugene (I was tired of being on call 24 hours a day 7 days a week) and after helping my replacement get started at St Eugene, I struck out on my own and went to work full time for my Nightshift, incorporating the company and adding some new clients as well.

At the same time, this was all happening my wife Niki (my best friend and love of my life) and I started a family, had two beautiful kids…and learned how to be parents. This was definitely the hardest, but most rewarding job in my life!!

Now my son Connor is graduating from high school and my daughter Chloe is going into junior high..(wow !! they grow fast)

That’s a little about me…..
